The highest mobile tower in Eastern Ladakh
The highest mobile tower in Eastern Ladakh at an altitude of
16,000 feet has been operationalised on 26 June 2015 in a
joint effort by public sector telecom services provider Bharat
Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and the Indian Army.
The tower provides a vital communication link to one of the
remotest locations of Eastern Ladakh at Chongtash.
An official press release said the tower had been established
with assistance from the Indian Army’s Trishul Signallers in
terms of transportation, setting up and rearward connectivity.
"The Indian Army, with this effort, continues to contribute
towards development of communication infrastructure for
benefit of the local population of Ladakh," it added.

contract labour talks
Talks on Contract Labour issues : Today, NFTE and BSNLEU along with respective Contract Labour Unions had discussions with the Circle Administration over Contract Labour issues. Comrades Pattabi, Murali, Selvam, Babu Radhakrishnan, Chellappa and Palanisamy participated from Unions' side. Sri G.V.Reddy, CGM., Sri Ravi, PGM(F), Smt Poonkuzhali, PGM(O) & Sri Ravibabu GM(HR) along with DGM (HR) represented the Management.
As regards to main issues, it was assured to ensure timely payment of Wages to CLs by avoiding delay in SSAs and Circles. It was also assured that instructions will be issued to SSAs and Contractors to remit EPF/ESI in the respective EPF Offices so as to avoid misappropriation of amount paid by the Management towards EPF. It was also assured to instruct Contractors to issue ID cards to CLs at the earliest, say by the end of July. A comprehensive Circular is being issued by the Circle Administration on all these.
